No. taxii.ma is not a ride-hailing app. There is no in-app pairing, no assigned driver, and no tracking. Drivers and passengers still flag each other down physically — we just use data to put them in the same place at the same time. Think of it as making the street smarter, not replacing it.
The heatmap is a real-time color-coded map visible to drivers. It shows where passengers are currently signaling demand: Red = high, Orange = medium, Yellow = low, Grey = none. The map updates every ~6 seconds via a live GPS connection, so drivers always see current conditions — not 10-minute-old data.
The Virtual Hand is the passenger’s main feature — a single large button in the passenger app. When you tap it, your location (as a coarse ~50m cell, never exact) is added to the heatmap that all nearby drivers can see. You also get an estimated wait time and fare range while you wait.
Drivers need to upload 3 documents: their Permis de Confiance (Trust License), Agrément (operating authorization), and CIN (national ID card). You can photograph them directly with your phone camera inside the app. Verification usually takes within 2 business days. If rejected, the specific reason is shown so you can fix and resubmit.
Yes. For passengers, demand is stored as a cell count + time window — never a personal route. For drivers, live GPS position is pseudonymous (UUID-keyed) and stored only in Redis with a TTL — close the app and your dot disappears within seconds. No passenger personal data is ever shared with drivers.
Yes — the taxii.ma Passenger app is completely free to download and use. You pay the taxi driver directly in cash via the meter (compteur), as always. taxii.ma never charges passengers any fee or commission.
